Spring

Welcome to the Alpine Fellowship Journal.

There are just TWO WEEKS left to submit applications to our theatre, writing, academic writing and art prizes. We’ve already received thousands of applications in all categories and we anticipate receiving a lot more over the next few weeks as applications draw to a close.

If you’ve been holding off applying, we recommend you get your application in early and don’t leave it until the last minute. Once the deadline has passed applications will close and no late entries will be permitted for any reason. So, save yourself the stress, and get your application in with plenty of time.

Right, so, what’s going on at Alpine Fellowship at the moment…

Fjallnas

We’re excited to be returning to Fjallnas in northern Sweden for the second year in a row. It really is an incredibly beautiful place and provides a perfect setting for a gathering of dispirate artists, writers, philosophers, actors, poets, theatremakers and more to come together and explore the things that they share, but didn’t know they shared.

On arrival you’re greeted with the message:

“Welcome to our country, our mountains, and experience how your senses become alive in this immense and unspoilt wilderness.”

Well, we certainly look forward to being welcomed.

Drawing Out Character by Bridget Stevens Marzo

Whatever discipline you engage with, drawing is a liberating and challenging exercise. Here leading illustrator Bridget Stevens Marzo takes our fellows through a lecture in her craft that culminates in a drawing workshop that anyone can take part in. Whether you’re a seasoned sketching or a total beginner, why not have a go and see what you can come up with?

The Perfectly Timed Death of an Imaginary Friend by Kieran Lynn

We’re currently in discussions with a prominent London theatre to produce the world premiere production of our Theatre Prize winner from 2019. This is an exciting new step for us and we look forward to telling you more in the coming months.

That’s all for now…

Remember, if you’re thinking of applying, you’ve only got a few weeks left. We know that there’s a lot going on right now, but we would urge everyone reading this to take a chance and have a go. We’re keen to hear from new voices and artists in all of our disciplines, experience is not essential, so even if this is your first competition, be brave and have a go.

We look forward to reading and seeing your work!
